The Civil Service Commission (CSC) yesterday announced that it is now accepting applications for the 2018 Fire Office Examination (FOE) and Penology Office Examination (POE) which will be both conducted on June 17, 2018. Deadline for submission of applications is on April 27, 2018.

The CSC emphasized that apart from the standard qualification requirements, FOE applicants must be 21 to 35 years old at the date of filing while POE applicants must be at least 18 years old at the date of filing.

Application requirements are fully accomplished application form (CS Form No. 100, Revised 2016), four (4) pieces of passport sized I.D. pictures (white background with handwritten name and signature), and original and photocopy of a valid I.D. card. Additional documents may be requested by the CSC. Examination fee is PHP 700.00.

Interested applicants should personally file their applications at the CSC Regional Office (CSCRO), or at any of the concerned CSCRO’s Field Offices, where they intend to take the examination.

The scope of examination for FOE are general ability (verbal, analytical and numerical) and specialized area (fire suppression, fire safety and prevention, fire investigation, and administrative matters).

The scope of examination for POE are general ability (verbal, analytical, numerical) and specialized area (jail management concepts and applications, custodial concepts and applications, inmates welfare and development (IWD) programs, and BJMP administrative matters).

Examinees who will obtain a general rating of at least 80.00 will be conferred the Fire Officer or Penology Officer Eligibility. These are second level eligibilities that are specific and appropriate for second level ranks in the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), respectively, and other functionally related services. The CSC clarified that these eligibilities are not appropriate for ranks under the Philippine National Police.
