A total of 109 examinees passed the Career Service Examination for Foreign Service Officer (CSE-FSO), the Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced.

The figure represents 17.36% of the total number of examinees who took the CSE-FSO on January 28, 2018 in 12 regions.

Garnering a rating of 89.47, Christopher Cruz from NCR bested 628 examinees of the CSE-FSO.

The CSC explained that the resulting eligibility called the Career Foreign Service Officer Eligibility is appropriate to first (clerical) and second (technical) level positions in the government that do not involve practice of profession and are not covered by Bar, board and other laws. As such, it is comparable to the Career Service Professional Eligibility.

Apart from being conferred the Career Foreign Service Officer Eligibility, the 109 passers of the CSE-FSO shall be able to proceed to the succeeding parts of the five-part Foreign Service Officer Examination (FSOE) administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). This, as the CSE-FSO also serves as the first part (qualifying test) of the FSOE. The remaining parts of the FSOE include the Preliminary Interview, Written Test, Psychological Test, and Oral Test, all administered by the DFA to recruit candidates for the position of Foreign Service Officer, Class IV.

Top performing examinees also include Bai Ashrafia Aymee Biruar from Region XI (Davao region) with an 87.89 rating, and Jestoni Urbano from Region VIII (Eastern Visayas), 86.32. The rest all come from NCR where bulk of the examinees were: Maria Ofelia Leaño-87.89; Prince Elmer Reyes-87.37; Arturo Gatus and Janusz Paolo Larin – 86.84; and Jennifer Lee, Ivan Caesar Magadia, Raya Mae Manalo, and Victor Lorenzo Villanueva – 86.32.

Passers are advised to access and read thoroughly the corresponding CSC Examination Advisory No. 06, s. 2018, posted on the CSC website, for requirements and procedures in claiming their Certification of Eligibility. ###
