The Civil Service Commission (CSC) reminds government agencies to uphold the 10-day paid leave for female employees under Republic Act No. 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004. This initiative supports victim-survivors of abuse during the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW).
Support for Victims
The special leave ensures that women in government service, regardless of employment status, can address critical needs such as medical care, counseling, legal protection, and pursuing legal action. It also applies to female employees supporting child victims of abuse.
Key Details:
- The leave is non-cumulative and cannot be converted to cash.
- It may be availed continuously or intermittently.
- Extensions beyond 10 days are unpaid or charged to earned leave credits.
Streamlined Access
Employees must submit a completed leave form citing RA No. 9262, along with supporting documents such as a protection order, police report, or medical certificate. Agencies are urged to ensure confidentiality and promptly assist victims.
Upholding Women’s Rights in the Workplace
The CSC also calls on agencies to strictly enforce CSC Resolution No. 2100064, which outlines rules against workplace sexual harassment, and to strengthen measures protecting women from gender-based violence.
About the 18-Day Campaign Against VAW
This annual campaign, observed from November 25 to December 12, is anchored on the theme “UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines.” The 2024 sub-theme, “VAW Bigyang-Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras!” celebrates 20 years of RA No. 9262 while raising awareness about violence against women.
