A total of 4,929 examinees passed the Fire Officer Examination, while 1,089 others made it in the Penology Officer Examination, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced.

The CSC said that the figures represent 16.84% and 16.87% of the total number of examinees who took the Fire Officer and Penology Officer examinations, respectively, conducted on June 24, 2018.

With a rating of 91.90, Luigi Miguel Reyes from NCR topped the Fire Officer exam (FOE), while Jan-Michael Talle from Central Visayas topped the Penology Officer exam (POE) with a rating of 91.08.

Completing the list of top examinees for the FOE are Joy Edward Feraer (NCR) and Earnswell Tan (Central Visayas) – 91.43; Peter Sean Anthony Atup (NCR) – 90.48; Ram Clarence Perez (Caraga) – 90.24; Harley Glenn Galpo (NCR) – 90.00; Anthony Alvin Duran and Israel Mayorca (both Eastern Visayas) – 89.76; and Alan Cabot and Frederick Israel (Northern Mindanao), Jayson Hilario and Mariano Valiente Jr (Southern Tagalog), and Algie Mullanida (NCR) – 89.52.   

For the POE, Joey Ian Lañojan (Central Visayas) – 90.84; Michael Jhon Avelino (Eastern Visayas) and Cristine Joy Gregorio (Central Luzon) – 90.12; Roel Baclay (Eastern Visayas) and Red April Lasco (NCR) – 89.88; Jhanel Muya (Davao) and Danriel Orapa (Central Visayas) – 88.92; and Criselda Basiyo (CAR), and Nolie Ingcad, Nivea Jore and Rosebell Viray (NCR) – 88.67.

The CSC further disclosed that the Bicol region posted the highest number of new Fire Officer eligibles, numbering 545 or 11.06% of the total FOE passers. On the other hand, passers of the POE are concentrated in NCR numbering 172 or 15.79% of total passers.

As to regional performance, the CSC said that the Davao region attained the highest passing rate of 25.18% or 311 passers. For the Penology Officer, CAR emerged with the highest passing rate of 29.24% or 50 out of 171 examinees.

Examinees, both passed and failed, can generate their individual test result through the Online Civil Service Examination Results Generation System (OCSERGS) which can also be accessed at the CSC website, erpo.csc.gov.ph/ocsergs/.

Passers may claim their Certification of Eligibility through the CSC Regional Offices by September 6, 2018. They are advised to access and read thoroughly the corresponding CSC Examination Advisory No. 20, s. 2018, posted on the CSC website, for requirements and procedures in claiming their Certification of Eligibility.

The CSC said the resulting eligibilities—Fire Officer Eligibility and the Penology Officer Eligibility—are both second level eligibilities that are specific and appropriate for second level ranks in the fire protection and jail management and penology services, respectively, and other functionally related services. The appropriateness of these eligibilities, though, does not include ranks under the Philippine National Police, the CSC clarified.
