| WHAT is Examination Generation System? |
| Examination Generation System or EGNS is a CSC-developed
software program designed to generate career service professional and subprofessional
examination test forms. It facilitates the systematic storage, updating and retrieval
of equivalent test forms from a computerized test bank. Its outstanding feature is that
a test form can be generated within minutes in contrast to the manual assembly of items
which takes up to several weeks and even months. |
| The EGNS is a tool specifically created to meet the demands
of those tasked with the "assembly" of the test forms or examination questionnaires.
The system features the unique combination of speed, efficiency, objectivity and security
in test form generation. |
| There are specific stages in building a test. In the EGNS, the
typical sequence begins with the test construction, followed by the encoding or editing
of the test items in the test bank, and then the review and refinement of the test items. |
| Prior to the examination generation, there should be sufficient test
items in the test bank. This means that the test bank must have enough test items per
category, level of difficulty, item type and specific skill to be able to generate
equivalent test forms. |
| The existing CSC test item bank contains items used in general
aptitude tests. The test items in the Career Service Examinations are constructed
and reviewed by Civil Service Commission (CSC) test technicians and special examiners
or subject matter test item writers/reviewers who are mostly prominent members of
the academe. |
| The group of special examiners is chosen by the CSC based on the recommendations of leading institutions. Special attention is given to the Special Examiners' background, particularly, their expertise in the subject matter for which they were recommended and their experience in test item construction and review. |
