LIBRARY COLLECTIONS AND CLASSIFICATIONS
The Library collections include books, theses, periodicals, archival documents, and special collections on Gender and Development.
These are divided into two categories, one is the General Collections which consist of library materials on Non-CSC thrusts
(philosophy, sociology, computer, literature and languages). The other one, is the Civil Service Collections which are on CSC-thrusts
(personnel management, human resource development and training, labor management, public service and media relations).
At present, the Library uses two classification systems. The Dewey Decimal Classification (DCC) System which is used to organize non-CSC
books, and the devised Civil Service Book Collection (CSBC) system for organization of books on CSC-thrusts. The said classification
system include subject matters on Administrative and Quasi-Judicial Administration, Personnel Relations, Public Service and Media Relations,
and Personnel Management and Administration. Below is the CSBC systems.

LIBRARY SERVICES
Circulation/Readers Services
This service is directly given to library clients. It includes lending (charging) and returning (discharging) of library
materials, answering simple queries, and assistance in using the library.
Current Awareness Service
Current awareness service is provided to ensure that library clients are kept up-to date with information on their interests
or subject areas. For this, the library provides the Quarterly Subject Bibliography which is disseminated every quarter to
the different offices in the CSC central office.
Research Assistance Service
This service is provided to CSC library clients who need help in searching, finding materials/information on the shelves or
through internet for their researches. This service is given upon request.
Inter-Library Loan Service
This service is provided to CSC library clients if the library does not hold some of the needed library materials. The
librarian may borrow them from another library through the inter-library loan subject to their rules and regulations.
Information and Retrieval (I&R) Service
Librarians usually have mutual agreements in referring their employees to other libraries. Hence, CSC employees who wish
to access other libraries' collections, facilities, and information sources may coordinate with the Library for issuance of
a referral letter.
LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS
Library Hours
The Library is kept open on all days except Saturdays, Sundays, declared holidays. The
opening hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
General Rules
- Only CSC employees are allowed to bring out books for home reading for five days
provided they have a borrower's card.
- Non-CSC employees/researchers are allowed Room-Use-Only of the
library materials.
- A fine of Php 5.00 per library material per day will be charged for failure to
return on due date(OM no. 60, s. 2005).
- Computation of fines includes Saturdays and Sundays
